Dear Friend,
The Anguilla Archaeological and Historical Society is pleased to invite you to join us on an exciting journey of “Preserving and promoting Anguilla’s Historical, Archaeological and Cultural Heritage”.
Our objectives are:
  • To protect and preserve Anguilla's shared cultural heritage.
  • To document and record finds of archeological or historical significance on Anguilla.
  • To present and display documents and artifacts of historical and or archaeological significance.
  • To encourage reports of discoveries or research of an archeological or historical nature on Anguilla.
  • To encourage the passing of supportive legislation on Anguilla.
  • To do all such other things as will promote the aims of the society.
The AAHS was established in 1981 and depends entirely on the memberships and donations for funding its Mission. Made up of a group of dedicated volunteers, the Society concentrates on the development and protection of historical and cultural sites.
Over the past 40 years the Society has been engaged in a myriad of projects including: Several Archeological Rescue Projects; The Anguilla Heritage Trail ;(erection of signs at historical sites) the endangered Archives Project with support of the British Library: Identification of Anguilla shipwrecks sites for future protection; the recording of the historical events in Anguilla’s past; support for summer Archaeological Field Schools form various Universities in the US and UK, and joining with the Ministry of Tourism to establish the first Archaeological and Amerindian Interpretation Centre at the Fountain Cavern in Shoal Bay and the restoration of the historic Wallblake Plantation house , the Valley and the reconstruction of the historic Old Court House at Croucs Hill..
